🚲 Community Safety Message – Bicycle Theft in Boroughbridge 02/04/2026

This evening, we received a report of a bicycle stolen from a driveway in Boroughbridge. Opportunistic thefts can happen quickly, even when a bike is left unattended for only a short time.

To help protect your property, please take the following precautions:

✅ Do not leave bicycles out in sight
Even on your own driveway, an unsecured bike can be an easy target.

✅ Store bicycles securely out of view
Whenever possible, keep them inside a locked garage, shed, or home. Ensure outbuildings are properly secured.

✅ Use a strong lock
If you must leave your bike outside temporarily, secure it with a high‑quality D‑lock or heavy‑duty chain to a fixed, immovable object.

✅ Consider property marking and registering your bike
This can help police identify and return stolen property.
